Almost everyone enjoys making the inside of their household beautiful by routinely updating with fresh new looks, but have you considered spicing up the outside of your home? With the energy we put into spicing up the inside of our household, we often neglect to do the same outside. So here are a few quick and easy outdoor decorating guidelines that will help smarten up up the curb appeal of your home:
1. Paint: You can paint the whole home and trim, or just touch up the trim alone, either way will make a huge impact on how your home looks to the passing public.
2. Porch or Patio: How your home appears from the outside can be dramatically improved by putting out brand new furniture on your porch or patio. Alternatively, you can just buy new patio chairs cushions or covers for your existing patio furniture. You could also spice up your patio by putting flowering potted plants on it, putting out gnomes or statues, or by fitting a small water fountain into the empty space.
3. Walkways: You can make your household appearance and feel cozier and more inviting by simply adding a walkway outside your house. You can make even an existing plain sidewalk seem special and inviting just by edging the walk, lining it with flowers, putting small solar walkway lights on each side... Or, You could plant annual flowers, like petunia, along each side. If you don't already have a walkway and want to create one, I think the prettiest are those made of stone. In order to ad a decorative touch, have the walkway curve or wind a little prior to reaching your front door.
4. A decor in your yard; be it a pole mounted light, a patch of flowers sitting in a wheelbarrow or well, or even a birdhouse, will instantly add a sense of household to your yard. Your yard and home will be distinguishable from the other homes on the street, plus it gives you a chance to show off your tastes and make an impression.
5) Of course, the most popular method of decorating the outside of a home is by the addition of some type of plants -- flowers, bushes, trees, anything of this type. If you are looking for something that will be a quick addition of color, you should appearance into what annuals are currently in bloom. If you want the splashes of color to last throughout the year, consider adding some perennials too. Then once the annuals are beginning to die out, you'll have something to replace them. Plus, the perennials will go on to sprout again and again for many years to come.
